Goals

From Discovered

Goals range from minor personal matters to extinction-level events. each goal identifies an outcome - a description of the world in the future where the goal is achieved.

A sophant or organization may have one of four relationships to a goal:

  • Advance a goal by personally spending time and effort to achieve it, or by personally interfering with efforts to oppose it.
  • Support a goal by providing resources to sophants advancing the goal, or by denying resources to those opposing it.
  • Ignore a goal. (This is the default state.)
  • Oppose a goal by personally spending time and effort to prevent it, or by personally interfering with efforts to achieve it.

The urgency and importance of a goal varies among stakeholders. Stakeholders' relationships to goals are noted with their understanding of these factors.

Some goals are compatible or depend on other goals. Others are mutually exclusive or interfere with each other. This is noted in each goal.
