Metamancers engage with a metaphorical gestalt directly, warping it to suit their desires. In most cases this means creating a situational aspect that modifies the virtual environment as desired.Their skills are applied IVR and IAR environments, and translate most closely to Sorcery in the post-Shadows world. These skills are only available to characters with a neural lace or full VR Rig.
Metamancy is fast, flexible, and riskier than normal hacking. Instead of painstakingly following precise rules to take over a system or alter data, Metamancers use metaphorical programming tools and techniques to warp the virtual and augmented environment they are in. Metamancers tend not to team up, so most effects are limited to a single character.

The difficulty is determined by the GR, or by the approach and roll of the target of the effect. Metamancy does not usually do physical damage, but mental stress is common. Despite the direct neural connections of the neural lace there is no such thing as 'hacking someone's brain'. It is quite possible to contrort the virtual environment around a person to cause them to behave in some particular way that the metamancer wants.
