Machine Gun (Heavy)

Machine Guns are capable of fully automatic or burst-fire, and rely on high rates of fire and low recoil to cause damage. Sustained ROF: 1 burst attack per turn. Using larger antipersonnel munitions and often several barrels, heavy machine guns allow light armored recon units and gun emplacements to engage more heavily armored personnel carriers. Examples include the infamous M2 "Ma Deuce" .50BMG, M3M, Mk19 Grenade launcher, M242 Bushmaster Auto Cannon, and several General Dynamics mini guns. All heavy machine guns have share these aspects:

  • Damage: +4PS per burst attack
  • Ammuntion Options: up to AP3, +2 to +4 PS with explosive/grenade rounds
  • Range: 2000m
  • Reload: 1 to 4 actions after the magazine is empty, depending on whether the gunner has support to reload.
    • Magazine: 1000+ rounds using powered ammunition feeders
    • Burst size: 20-100 rounds
  • Cyclic ROF: 20 to 100RPS (1 attack per turn)
  • Hold the trigger down modifies an attack so the attacker can use their reactions to continue attacking. This continuous, uninterrupted action can span many seconds in a 15s turn. Taking any other reaction - including defending yourself from an attack - ends this reaction. Imagine sweeping a flamethrower across a crowd of targets.
  • AoE: Arc up to 15° per attack. Divide damage evenly among targets. Each reaction used to hold the trigger down can shift the attack by 15° in any direction.
