Liz Sherman

Aliases: #REDIRECT [[Liz Sherman]]

[[Category:Characters]]

[[Liz Sherman]] :: [[Liz]] :: [[Elizabeth]] :: [[Elizabeth Sherman]]

Aspects
High Concept: Average teenage girl with the memories of both a fictional movie character and a 45 year old Transhuman Gene witch, that can tap into "The Living Fire" - the most powerful expression of fire
Trouble: I Don't Know Who I Am....; She contains the memories of both a Transhuman Gene Witch Power broker (and her multiple personas) that lived from 1989-2034 and the fuzzy recollection of Droo of a super powered antiheroine from 1994 comic book and 2005 movie, alive from 1962-1979 and transported into this time...or a new entity made of some, neither, or both.
Aspects:
  • Whoopsies: I feel profoundly guilty over two lives worth of destruction - the unintentional immolation of Liz's family and town, along with all of the manipulation and trauma Willow caused countless lives in her selfish pursuits
  • I Am Carrie White: I can manufacture any expression of fire I can think of, and I'm completely immune to fire and heat.
  • Hulk Smash: Rage, fear, and physical pain fuel my power. When I lose it I am willing to burn the world.
  • Bruce Liz: I am an expert hand-to-hand combatant, trained by the BPRD from childhood and veteran of many fights.
  • The fire is not my enemy. It is a part of me. It is mine: Great mental training by Catholic monks has given me control of my powers
  • The Punish-her: I am broken and tortured, but don't take crap from anyone.
  • Resident Evil: When you have been in the fires of hell you get better at dealing with horrors. I have 4 mental stress slots.

  • Fire Shield (24/6/6 to 14): +2 to forcefully project a fire shield to protect me and those around me from physical harm, though they may find it almost as dangerous as the attack. Casting Time: 1s (4). Components: Prayer (v): Recite a prayer asking for protection. (-1 common, reusable). Mortification (e): Drive the sharp edges of the crucifix into the skin of my palms. After 4 castings my hands must heal before I can do this again. (-2 depleted, common). Concentration (e): While maintaining this effect no other actions can be taken. After 4 castings a full night sleep is needed to replenish this component. (-2 depleted, common). Damage: +5 defence / contact damage (5). Duration: 30s (2). Energy Pool: Yes. Flexible: Vol (2+8). Source: Adept (final x¼). Volume: Dome 1-80m3.
  • Flame Strike (20/5/5): have a beam of plasma erupt from my finger to target a single enemy, but the fire tends to splash around. Splash Zone On a miss or a tied roll the flame may splash onto other targets.Casting Time: Instantaneous (8). Components: Rage: I must be on the verge of losing my temper to access this power. This is a state of mind I loathe, and it exhausts me. (-4 rare, depleted). Duration: After the flame hits, it continues to burn for 15s (1). Energy Pool: Yes. Source: Adept (x¼). Volume: Beam 20m long and .2m radius (2).
  • Smoking Boots (28/7/7+1 to 4): +2 to Forcefully throw a searing ball of flame that erupts into a mist of liquid explosive - which then explodes, causing everything that can burn to light up and stay lit. Keep On Burning: Everything in the AoE takes fire damage at a rate of 1/s for 30s or until the flames are put out. Blast Front: The blast front causes concussive damage to everything within 50m of the edge of the explosion. 10 points at 5m, 9 at 10m, all the way to 1 shift at 50m.Casting Time: 4 sec (1). Components: Rage (e): I must be on the verge of losing my temper to access this power. This is a state of mind I loathe, and it exhausts me. (-4 rare, depleted).. Air (m): My exhaust jet is barely breathable after it cools. (-4 common, destroyed). Damage: 11. Duration: Instantaneous. Energy Pool: Yes. Flexible: Range (2+4). Range: Up to 40m (4). Source: Adept (x¼). Volume: 2m tall x 4m radius (10).
  • Hindenburg (12/3/3+1/s): +2 to Flashily cloak myself in flames which pour down my body and limbs to form a jet powerful enough for me to fly, while explosively vaporizing / ablating anything the jet hits. Casting Time: 4 seconds (1). Components: Rage (e): I must be on the verge of losing my temper to access this power. This is a state of mind I loathe, and it exhausts me. (-4 rare, depleted). Air (m): My exhaust jet is barely breathable after it cools. (-4 common, destroyed). Damage: 3/s of contact with jet. Duration: 1 to 42s. Energy Pool: Yes. Source: Adept (x¼). Volume: Column 5m long 1m diameter (1).
  • Cleansing Flame (44/11/11): build a rage fuelled wave of all consuming fire, but I am an utterly exhausted mess after the blast. Burnout: Using this power leads to persistent, utter exhaustion that takes time and medical attention to heal. Burns in any fluid: Air, water, or fire suppression argon - it doesn't matter. This flame burns through them all without consuming or being quenched by them. Casting Time: 8s (0) to summon the fury. Components: Fury (e): I have to lose myself to murderous rage to access this power. This is a state of mind I loathe, and it utterly exhausts me. (-8 rare, destroyed). Harm (e): I can not access this power until I have used all but three damage slots: 4pt & 6pt consequences and one other. (-4 rare, reusable). Crucifix (m): The cross my mother gave me before I killed her. (-4 unique, resusable). Damage: 6/s fire damage + 4pt and 6pt 'Utter Exhaustion' consequences (-4x10=-40). Duration: Flames roll out in an expanding wave that lasts 30s (2). Energy Pool: Yes. Flexible: Volume (2). Source: Adept (x¼). Volume: Fills 800m3 with fire. Follows irregular volume. Default in open space is a cylinder r=11.25m h=2m (80).

Average sized, attractive teen girl with straight black hair, dressed in Catholic school girl attire with a cross hanging around her neck.

Backstory

Willow is transformed in the "magical lair" of Shadows into Liz Sherman, a fictional character from Hellboy movies, as a response to the Sammael creatures threatening to consume the party.

Liz simultaneously recalls Miranda's life and her own, largely fictional, life. She knows this - remembers Willow telling Droo to "Turn me into Liz!" - and yet she is her own person. The inconsistencies in her age and the dates of her experiences is quite disturbing, as is the absence of all the people Liz loves and has come to rely on.

Liz Sherman was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was your typical average girl until her pyrokinetic abilities began to make themselves evident on her 11th birthday. Raised in a strict Catholic family, Liz felt that the fires were a result of her sins, and for a short time managed to keep the fires under control by a combination of prayer and sheer force of will. However, in July 1973, at age eleven, she once again lost control. The resulting eruption destroyed an entire city block and, among the thirty-two fatalities, took the lives of her parents, brother, and pet dog. Liz's last uncontrolled manifestation took place on July 4, 1984 the eruption took the lives of her friends and family, and even destroyed an entire city block. This incident left Liz traumatized. She was collected by The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD) to understand, help her control, and the conscript her into service for them. For a time, Liz lives with a society of monks in the Agartha Temple in the Ural Mountains to gain control of her powers. As a result of her time among the monks, Liz now has complete control over fire: she can produce small hand-sized flames to light her way in darkness, she can erupt in a furious explosion of fire to destroy anything around her (the use of her powers on this scale seemingly require her to chant a mantra: "The fire is not my enemy, it is a part of me, it is mine", and can also manipulate fire into shapes and designs.
