A small amount of molten rock (80,000m3) was ejected into suborital trajectories, mostly raining down over the Pacific. The impact was enough to cause small tsunamis around the Pacific rim.

A vast amount of other debris (25km3 or 25,000,000,000m3) was smashed into the atmosphere, some rising to the stratosphere. This spread out widely in all directions, though much of the larger debris fell into the ocean or on the Rocky Mountains.

The effects of this are expected do be similar to the consequences of Krakatoa.
